Resistance forces made significant territorial gains in Rakhine and Kachin states, including the capture of Bhamo airport, while the SAC intensified airstrikes across twelve regions and extended the national state of emergency by six months.
Key Events
- Between January 21 and 27, the Arakan Army (AA) captured the Kamyinkan and Moe Hte Taung military bases in Rakhine State, as well as Point (263) and Point (369) in Irrawaddy Region.
- From January 24 to 26, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and joint forces seized the No. 21 Operations Command Headquarters, an armored battalion, and the airport in Bhamo Township, Kachin State.
- On January 23, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) successfully captured a Military Council camp in Ka Taing Ti village, Hpa Pun Township, following a multi-week offensive.
- On January 31, the National Defense and Security Council officially extended the Military Council's emergency period for an additional six months.
- The Military Council enacted the Civil Service Law on January 23, prohibiting individuals called for military service from traveling abroad without explicit permission.
