This week saw a heavy escalation of aerial warfare with 51 airstrikes across 13 regions, while intense ground clashes in Magway and Southern Shan resulted in high military council fatalities.
Key Events
- On January 18, the Arakan Army (AA) and joint forces seized control of Baw Mi village in Pathein Township, Ayeyarwady Region.
- The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and Joint Forces captured the Military Council's Aung Zayya Operation Forward Post in Kawkareik Township on January 12.
- A formal ceasefire between the MNDAA and the Military Council was established following China-brokered talks in Kunming on January 16.
- The UWSA announced the resumption of goods transportation between its territory and the MNDAA-controlled Kokang area following directives from China.
