Conflict intensity peaked in central Myanmar and Kayah State, where resistance forces inflicted high casualties on junta troops. Systematic arson campaigns continued to ravage rural communities, particularly in Sagaing and Magway regions.
Key Events
- On August 17, resistance forces captured the Boma Than Daung military camp in eastern Nay Pyi Taw following three days of intense fighting.
- A 100-year-old grandmother was burned to death during a junta arson attack on Samoon village in Sagaing region on August 18.
- KNDF reported the deaths of 71 junta soldiers, including a battalion commander and deputy commander, during a three-day engagement on the Demoso-Hpruso road.
- Junta forces arrested 15 teachers and owners of the Mandalay Golden Gate Private School on August 17, subsequently forcing the institution to close.
- Coordinated drone attacks by joint PDF forces targeted junta troops stationed at a school in Kawkareik township on August 19, killing a junta captain.
