Key Events
- On August 1, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Win Myint had their prison sentences reduced by 10 years as part of a broader amnesty of over 7,000 prisoners.
- At least 20 SAC soldiers were killed during a two-day battle with resistance forces along the Loikaw-Mobye road in Kayah State between August 1 and 2.
- Approximately 60 civilians were arrested by military forces following a raid on the White House KTV in Sittwe, Rakhine State, on August 1.
- On August 3, SAC troops set fire to Mayakan village in Ye-U township for the third time, destroying 27 houses and accidentally killing seven of their own soldiers during the operation.
