Conflict intensified across Myanmar in September, characterized by a high volume of SAC fatalities in Rakhine State and widespread property destruction in Sagaing. Resistance forces achieved significant territorial breakthroughs in Northern Shan and Kachin States, seizing several strategic command centers and naval facilities.
Key Events
- On September 5, the Arakan Army (AA) successfully gained full control of the Military Council’s Central Naval Diving and Salvage Department (CNDSD) base near Thandwe following an extended offensive.
- The TNLA and allied forces captured the Military Council’s artillery camp command headquarters in Taungkham on September 4 and later seized the Light Infantry Battalion 503 base in Hsipaw on September 26.
- KIA and joint forces conducted a major sweep of Chipwi Township throughout late September, capturing a strategic hill, the township police station, a militia camp, and a collective gate camp.
- On September 6, joint revolutionary forces in Pinlebu Township seized several military outposts, capturing over 60 prisoners of war and confiscating more than 80 weapons.
- The Sagaing Region continued to experience the highest levels of structural violence, with the Military Council destroying 425 houses and conducting 56 airstrikes during the month.
