Violence escalated across central and northern Myanmar, characterized by heavy junta airstrikes and a significant arson campaign in Magway, while resistance forces successfully captured a battalion base in Karen State.
Key Events
- On March 14, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and joint forces successfully seized the 31st Battalion base camp, known as Point 1248, in Hlaing Bwe Township.
- Junta forces conducted 33 airstrikes during the week, with the highest concentration occurring in Mandalay Region (8) and Magway Region (6).
- A major arson campaign by the Military Council resulted in the destruction of 174 houses in Magway Region and 40 in Bago Region.
- A total of 114 civilians were detained across three regions, with the majority (72 arrests) occurring in Magway Region.
- On March 20, military leader Min Aung Hlaing met with the Russian ambassador in Nay Pyi Taw to discuss military cooperation and the implementation of bilateral agreements.
