Steve Parks

Stephen Parks is a professor in the Writing and Rhetoric Program at the University of Virginia’s Department of English. He is the founder of the Democratic Futures Project and co-founder of Syrians for Truth and Justice, a human rights documentation project. Over the past twenty-five years, he has worked with faculty, advocates, and students in Europe, North Africa, North America, the Middle East, Oceania, and Southeast Asia on expanding democratic rights. He is the author of three monographs and over 25 peer reviewed articles. He has also served as an editor for academic journals, community presses, and scholarly monograph series. He is the recipient of the Distinguished Engaged Scholar Award as well as the Jefferson Scholars Excellence in Teaching Award.
